Even though this quote was taken from the same Pitchfork article that attempted to snub Bradford Cox's reputation, it makes me appreciate him so much more. Look at a band like Vampire Weekend. They're a bunch of upper class white boys wearing cardigans, button downs and polo shirts. I'm really glad Bradford wants no part in that scene.

Deerhunter is one of my favorite bands and I just don't like what they've done with Monomania....too much Bradford Cox influence. Deerhunter is led by Bradford Cox but he is best when fully supported by his bandmembers and this album just has no substance/support for Cox. Too boring compared to what I expected.

New record grew on me so much. There are no He Would Have Laughed or Desire Lines moments, and it's certainly not as good as Microcastle or even Weird Era, but I still think it's a mighty fine album

I've noticed the tracks I like off Monomania, THM and The Missing, are the most Lotus Plaza-y. The other ones are alright, but kinda meh, there's that sense of magic from Crypto/Micro/WeirdEra missing. Maybe they've looped back around to the Turn It Up Faggot sound :)
