Mount Kimbie go in a more organic and naturalistic direction ont heir newest album and also introduce vocals into the mix. Are these valuable additions or do they rip the energy out of their music? We spoke about these things and more this week as we discussed Cold Spring Fault Less Youth on my Podcast. You should listen and that: http://lastpodcastshow.com/2013/05/29/episode-95b-cold-spring-fault-less-youth-demo-tapes-krautrock-die-wunder-jahre-1970-1975-can-future-days-1973/last month

The new album is fucking fantastic. Obviously it's different from C&L but that's fine. Some parts almost remind me of Broken Social Scene's Feel Good Lost or something.last month

asenseabsurd, you just described why i liked crooks and lovers more - it was more interesting and experimental despite being less cohesive than csfly. though i think the few standout tracks on csfly are better, i just see it as a more boring dance album. i like king krule, but a lot of the other vocals are either distracting or just plain meh. god damn, made to stray and sullen ground, though....last month

CSFLY is such a step up from Crooks & Lovers. C&L was so hit or miss and such a mess but this release is so much more cohesive.last month

to me C&L felt like a bunch of ideas about what "post-dubstep mount kimbie" was "supposed" to sound like all thrown together. It felt incredibly hit-or-miss. Don't get me wrong, songs like 'before I move off' and 'field' are incredible, but as a whole it just didn't have much of a punch. More form for show than feeling and substance. The Maybes EP captured my heart. Probably my favorit EP of all time. I was severely disappointed with the direction C&L took. Cold Springs runs back to the vibes of Maybes EP for me. The vocals might be weird at points - I don't like some of them - but they all feel cohesive to the emotional thrust of the album. I don't think I will listen to many of the tracks out of album context, but in that context they are beautiful. It is my album of the year at this point.last month

I like it too. But "C&L" is the better album. "CSFLY" sounds like a completely different band.last month
