Produced by Brian Wilson, the album was recorded to coincide with the band's 50th anniversary tour, and is the band's first studio album since Stars and Stripes, Vol. 1 (1996) . It made its Billboard chart debut at #3, making the album their highest charting since 1965. The album is the first to feature original material since Summer in Paradise (1992).
