Domino resident CASS MCCOMBS possesses that rare ability to attack both the listener's heart with melodies and textures, and head with its poetry and themes. In the greatest of American traditions, McCombs carries on transcending fad and fashion to ensure the art of songwriting lives on.
The California native built his career traveling the East Coast of the US, performing at open mic nights in New York and Baltimore. His styles range from the anxious dronals of the Velvet Underground to lonesome hollowed out basement folk with many turns in between. His is a vivid and weary lyrical style that drifts into the high-spirited and whimsical.

The band's recordings chart transformations from psychedelic rock, pastoral folk, and piano-lounge balladry into analog-synthtronica, free-jazz breakdowns, pounding Afro-tech grooves, and avant-classical composition, with a slew of soft sounds redolent of early Spiritualized.
LEFT WITH PICTURES are from London, and formed in 2005. They started with three hard-up, classically trained musicians – Stuart Barter, Rob Wicks and Toby Knowles – who forsook the orchestra pit for the sanctuary of Toby’s parents’ loft. Armed with melodicas, guitars, violins, kazoos, ‘found sounds’ and a shoestring budget, they have performed regularly, from the Bush Hall to bedrooms, with the likes of Kate Nash, Johnny Flynn, Slow Club and The Wave Pictures.
