"Crank It Up" is the second single from the album Guilty Pleasure. The song was released on October 9, 2009 along with the release of her album. The song features uncredited vocals from the producer, David Jassy. Sonically, the song is a dance-pop song with Contemporany RnB and electronic elements, as well as the use of Auto-tune.
The single was officially released on October 16, 2009 in Germany in radios and digital download, and on October 17, 2009 in the rest of Europe . The song charted in Austria and Germany, peaking at #19. There was no official single release in the United States or in Canada.
The song is included as bonus track in the international standard edition of the album. The song contained the vocals in the chorus by the Swedish rapper David Jassy. Digital Spy said that the song is a shamelessly rips off Britney Spears's robopop sound, right down to the Spears-aping vocals. The song is included in the German compilation album Popstar Hits and she performed the song on the German reality show Popstars.
The music video was shot on the week of September 28, 2009 on Los Angeles, Estados Unidos and premiered for the music channel VIVA Germany on October 5, 2009, and via MySpace for United States on October 6, 2009.
