"Breakaway" is a song originally written by Avril Lavigne, Bridget Benenate and Matthew Gerrard. The song was written in 2001 for Lavigne's first album, Let Go, but the production of the song was later deemed unsuitable for the album. The song was passed to several artists including Samantha Moore before finally being recorded by Kelly Clarkson. Lavigne's original demo of the song leaked onto the internet over a decade later in April 2014. The song was Performed Live for the First time on The Head Above Water Tour in 2019.
Avril Later Re-recorded it for Inclusion on "Let Go (20th Anniversary Edition)"
A lyric video was Released to promote the song.
