Reading the comments and seeing the usual Gen Z complaints. Context doesn't mean a thing to you, does it?

Notice that it's all the comments after 2020 saying this, confirming it is the new gen of lastfm (gen Z) -- they don't understand the context, this happens with a lot of songs nowadays.

People triggered by the one slur in this 8 minutes song and none of the other issues that Dylan brings to light confirms that the USA has not made any actual progress in their weird, society-wide obsession about race and skin color. Why are you mad that Bob Dylan said a slur and not mad at the fact a man was unjustly stolen of his freedom?

"George Jackson" is one of Dylan's worst songs, because it just feels forced, as if Dylan felt the need to write a 'protest song' to appease the public - one of the only times Dylan gave into pressure. It was out of place. But "Hurricane" is completely different, it's terrific and fairly masterful. A late 'protest song' that is full of meaning and certainly played a role in getting Carter released. Then you have "Joey"... well, no one is perfect.

I came across a blog post awhile ago that has a part that's almost exactly worded like this, that still gives me chills. Oh here it is https://suicideproject.org/2010/07/i-believe-mostly-good-people-kill-themselves/

your original assumption was nonsense. what kind of person does someone have to be to 'deserve' being the subject of a song anyway? If Dylan chose to write this, then Rubin Carter obviously met all necessary criteria to do so

I hate this song. The dude may have been wrongly convited (maybe), but he is still not the kind of person who deserves a song.
