"The Magic Number" is the second track from De La Soul's debut album "3 Feet High and Rising". The track heavily samples "Three is a Magic Number" by Bob Dorough, from the animated series "Schoolhouse Rock!"
"The Magic Number" was featured in the credits of the 2021 film "Spider-Man: No Way Home".
Trugoy the Dove of De La Soul recalled to Rolling Stone : "There was no plan back then. It was just putting songs together and placing them where they belonged. Obviously three of us in the group, '3 is the magic number' became the philosophy, but mostly, it was just a song that we loved and it became part of the album." (Source The Magic Number Songfacts).
