This is a great soundtrack, but calling it the best part of Anatomy of a Murder seems a bit of a stretch to me. It's one of the best American movies of the 50s, full of flawless performances, great writing and terrific, subtle direction from Otto Preminger. It's the rare "court movie" that retains its plausibility from start to finish and doesn't sensationalize its subject matter. Anyway, Ellington's soundtrack/score for the film stands alongside Miles Davis' for Elevator to the Gallows as one of the all time best jazz soundtracks/scores for a movie.

The movie taint bad, but always felt that the score by the Duke was the best part of it.
