My friends from 32 Leaves turned me onto both FTM and dredg back in the mid 00's. They toured with both around that time too. Glad to see dredg is about to make a comeback...

All their stuff is great, but their Fik-shen EP is definitely their best work. Greg (their vocalist) went on to make music with some other short-lived bands (Codec, M.E.N.D., Retina). 32L might be making a comeback, though...

Karnivool surely has that Fair To Midland vibe in some songs. Sadly only in very rare few.

Lucky to have seen these guys live a couple of times before they broke up. They put on an awesome show.

Olivia & the Random! has been the only other band that sort of gave me the same feeling, but they broke up after one EP sadly. other than that a few bands that come a tiny bit close in some areas are Closure in Moscow, dredg, rishloo, the afterman albums by Coheed hit it a tiny bit in the way their melodies are and some of the instrumentation choices, mew is another band with FTM like chorus' and crosses the line between prog and art rock and pop. but all of these after Closure in Moscow arent really fairytale like. I hope that helps at least a little. no bands really capture what FTM did.

The only band so far I really miss frequently (as one of my super faves, Farmer Boys made a comeback few years ago). Too small discography and such talent!

So the members of the band just vanished too? Is there any other band from any of them?

The first record honestly doesn't do a lot, but I can tell they got something there if they improve on their sound. Matt's keyboard parts are honestly the only highlight for me. Not really a fan of the vocals at all. At times the record just bored me. Anyways, I really think if they improved and tried some new stuff they'd get somewhere, it really needed some energy to it.

It really blows that these guys broke up. Both "Fables..." and "Arrows..." were terrific and really original albums.

The production on Arrows & Anchors still bothers me to this day...was such a buzz-kill because the songs were there. Sounds terrible, sonically speaking

For once last.fm gave me a proper recommendation. This band is just beautiful. Both Fables and Arrows & Anchors are amazing albums. Gotta check their previous 2 albums out.

Such an incredibly unique band that I check back every once in awhile with faint hopes, but always hate the feeling after. Sounds like the member's live in different parts of the country now, so I should stop dreaming and just enjoy the two gems the did put out. Do wish Pandora would give inter.funda.stifle a rest from it's FTM playlist. Such inferior versions to Fables. Gives new listeners the wrong idea.

Ridiculous vocals/lyrics (in a good way) and awesome sound, so much fun to listen to!

So I heard Darroh is a father now...and has his own muffing company thing going on with his wife. So I guess...that's it? ;_;
