It's decent. Enjoyable. Definitely has it's moment but I don't go to it that often.

It's been a couple years since I last listened to it (which I'll have to fix soon), but I'm reasonably sure Miles Davis' "He Loved Him Madly" is exactly what you're looking for.

My first listen was in a record store in Burlington - what a wonderful holiday memory. Hopefully I get that feeling every time I listen to this album.

I've only listened once so far (don't want to start wearing out my vinyl until I can make a proper rip of it), but I think it's the most beautiful thing they've ever made. "Anthem for No State" is something else. I liked it in the live performances, but on record it's just become a truly transcendent work of art. The other three songs are gorgeous as well.

Probably. I don't really care for mp3s, though (record companies should get with the times and offer FLAC downloads with vinyl purchases), but in any case, it's not really important, since I ripped my LP a few days after I made that shout.

Although I can still appreciate it, I preferred their old stuff, I'm very resistant to change.

if he's resistant to change it seems he's in for a bad time listening to bands that are always changing

Beyond that, Godspeed had been performing most of this material for two years before the album was released (the two shorter pieces had been performed for a year instead). It's not as if their sound on this album came out of nowhere. Also... they're advocating anarchy here. If you're resistant to change, a band comprised of anarchists probably has some pretty significant philosophical differences from you.

It's true, I am completely against their head-in-the-clouds open borders bullshit. I don't agree with them politically any more (I grew up) but they are still my favorite band ever (alongside ASMZ).
