The version on "Solo Acoustic" is beautiful. Just amazing how much one voice and one guitar can convey.

One of the first songs I taught myself on guitar. I'm sure you wanted to know that.

I think it was Dave Crosby that said "No one should be able to write like that, and he was fucking 16". The first JB album I bought was "The Pretender" and I played it a lot. Fellow I was working with was in his late 40s and had sat and listened to "Daddy's Tune" and asked "how old is this fellow", "late 20s" I said. "Damn he shouldn't be able to write like that!".

Really beautiful song.. I find that I almost always wind up using that word to describe his music

I only know this from the cover by Nico which I love - first time I've heard the original - and boy do I not love it!

I used to have a gate and walled garden like the one in the photo, the garden was beautiful, and tendered by my loving hands..... The property was a white cottage called Knells Croft, North of Houghton, Carlisle... I loved it dearly.......

First version I ever heard of this was Greg Allman singing. I was floored. When I found out it was Mr. Browne, it all made sense. The last line hit me hard.
