Biography

Joujoux d'Antan is a brainchild of italian singer-songwriter Marco Tonincelli

The idea bloomed in 2003 on the banks of Gardasee, found in a hazy and pretty quiet area far in the north of Italy.

Following a few gigs in hometown, Marco recorded his first ep in 2005, named Nel Mio Armadio, and soon started to be recognized as a strange creature through italian skimpy music panorama.

He opened the official myspace for the band in march 2006, and in september the band has been discovered just on this social network by

Sean Lennon, who brought JJD'A through europe as support act for his Friendly Fire World Tour.

Marco would play, for his first time, in venues such as La Cigàle in Paris, or Bush Hall in London; the same boy whom only a couple of months before had never left his neighbourhood for concerts.

After that, JJD'A got well known in hometown, and in 2007 he chose to work with italian indie label Kandinsky Records, with whom he first release a live ep called Live à Le Grand Mix (a recording of the show he played there on Feb, 26th 2007).

First official LP, titled Mi Voglio Bene Come un Figlio, is out 09/09/09 and instantly got very warm responses from press and public, and the band toured for almost an year around its country.

In 2009, Marco has played with international artists such as

Florence and the Machine, Cornershop, Piano Magic, Caribou and

I Like Trains.

NY director Jordan Galland has picked two songs from his last record

for the soundtrack of his horror comedy

“Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead”.

Meantime Marco has moved to London, working on english material and playing in clubs around the city.
