was superposing the really rapey lyrics with beatles harmonies an intentional statement?

more chauvinistic than misogynistic; great song but if you're paying attention the lyrics and they don't give you pause you're doing it wrong PS worth noting it predates Money by a couple years, but not the White Album obv PPS Boz Burrell probably got it in, I imagine Wetton and babyface Bruford did too

I disagree with this being the closest thing to the Beatles without being Beatles. Perhaps you should check out the Knickerbockers tune "Lies."

Indeed, that chorus is the closest thing to The Beatles that is actually not a The Beatles... except it's darker and more frightening than anything The Beatles ever did (except for "Fixing A Hole", "Come Together" and "Benefit of Mr. Kite" maybe). That's pure schizophrenia....I love it.

I love how sleazy this song is. My girlfriend is a King Crimson fan but she'd never heard Islands. One day we were driving around town and I played this song for her. As soon as the ultrasleaze sax-riff comes in towards the beginning, she groaned and then we both laughed our asses off. She said "as if they ever got any!" and I had to agree. Everyone knows King Crimson concerts are sausage-fests.

When I've heard the part of "All you know.." I just thought "Why do The Beatles do in King Crimson's album?" it's just so WTF (But still a great piece)

Mellors: Exactly! That's what I thought when I first heard it 'Oh, it sounds like the Beatles!' I love the refrain part: 'All/of you/know/that the/girls/of the/road/are like apples you stole in your youth', probably my third favorite on this album.
