I've been a Kyuss fan for a while now, and I used to mostly listen to Sky Valley and Blues, but this album is growing on me a LOT recently.

I think this one might be my favorite. The variety of textures and moods just makes for a very enjoyable listen. You've got the almost punk-y feel of tracks like "Hurricane," the fucked up claustrophobic blues of "Gloria Lewis," the kind of latin-tinged "El Rodeo," the psychedelia of "Phototropic" and of course the usual collection of fuzzy riff-rockers like "One Inch Man," "Size Queen," etc. Diversity + experimentation + talented musicians = greatness. You can't go wrong with any of Kyuss' LPs but this one ends their run on an extremely high note.

I've been listening to my Kyuss albums again lately and now I don't have any doubts that this is their best/my favorite. They're all great (Wretch isn't quite up to the standard of the other three, but I still love it), but like I said in my previous comment, this one just has so many different moods and styles despite retaining the signature Kyuss feel. I've been listening to these guys for over 20 years now and I've never lost interest in the amazing music they made together. They were an incredibly special group and it's just staggering to think of how young they were when they made all this timeless, classic music.

It's not as good as Blues... or Welcome... and that's the fact. But - "They haven't made a bad track" [2] so who cares.

@Ramius_Crooks: I'm not the biggest fan of 'Wretch' either, much because of the same reasons as yourself.. it didn't feel like they had found their sound yet. But I think your mistaken when bashing Stage III. It is probobly the best song of Wretch and it's also an all-instrumental track so you must have mixed it up with another track!

This album has really started to rival Welcome to Sky Valley for me lately. It's definitely above Blues for the Red Sun.

Using the term "worst" when talking about Kyuss doesn't mean anything. They haven't made a bad track so their worst is still awesome. A lot of people here seem to think this is their worst record? Whats up with that shit? If I had to pick just one album to listen to for the rest of my life this would probably be it.
