Both Antiphon and For The Sake Of Bethel Woods are great albums! Although Tim's new album is very good also.

New record is killer. Sound-wise it's an awesome blend of the majestic 'Antiphon' and the classic Van Occupanther-era Midlake.

Will probably end up on my top ten at the end of the year! I like the old Midlake but Antiphon really did it for me. This one follows it nicely (9 years later).

They just worked on a collaboration called "BNQT" which has a pretty interesting album that was released in April.

Agreed, ''The Courage of Others'' deserves by no means such a disappointingly low rating. At some moments I like it even more than Van Occupanther.

Wish they didn't use lo-fi production...I'm sure they're great live, but they really need more resonance/less compression to me.

Antiphon is the record I wanted to hear back when they first said The Courage of Others would be darker than Van Occupanther.

Never been a huge fan of Midlake - I did like a few songs, but I rarely came back to their music. That might have just changed. I must say 'Antiphon' is their first record I truly enjoy from start to finish. I find it much more mature and refined than their earlier work. I like how they turned away a bit from folk to make something more in the vein of 70's progressive rock. The production of the album, as someone has already mentioned here before, is splendid, and I love the sound they've managed to achieve. I'm highly impressed with the drum work too - it really stands out and it was probably the first thing that got my attention after the first listen. 'Antiphon' may lack its Roscoe, but I believe that it's their strongest one as a whole. Definitely one of the best 5 albums I have heard this year.
