  • Born In

Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York, New York, United States

Monique was born in the Bedford Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn N.Y. She is the only girl of four children born to Bishop Carl & Sandra Williams. Monique was raised singing in her grandfather's church; "The Institutional Church of God in Christ" in Ft. Greene, Brooklyn. She began singing at the tender age of five and quickly became the church's star-soloist. She sang in every choir from the Childrens' Choir to the Radio Choir. Monique's stunning lead vocals shined brightly every Sunday night, during the Radio Choirs' live broadcast.

Her professional career began in the early 80's when she joined "The Soul Stirrers Crusade choir." While singing with this choir she met fellow choir member, Hezekiah Walker, whom she later married in 1992. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter Kyasia Monet. Monique demonstrated her multitalented abilities when she co-starred with world-renowned actor Morgan Freeman, Carl Lumby and "The Five Blind Boys" in the stage play "Coriolanus". She also toured numerous countries with the play, "Don't Get God Started", along with BeBe Winans, Kim Fields and John S. Devito.

Monique returned from touring to join Hezekiah Walker and his "Love Fellowship Crusade Choir". Monique quickly became the choirs' well-recognized and often requested lead vocalist. Her commanding stage presence and powerful anointed voice captivated a worldwide gospel audience. Monique's vocals catapulted LFCC to the top of the Billboard Charts and helped them to win numerous Grammy & Stellar Awards. Monique's' impressive voice was showcased in the following hit songs, "Second Chance, "Thank-you", "Let's Dance", (featuring Dave Hollister and BB Jay), "He's on your side", (Duet with BeBe Winans), "Romans 8:28" and "Gospel of Jesus Christ" (written by Donnie McClurkin)

Today begins a new chapter in Monique Walkers brilliant singing career. She is the Star Artist of Anointed Sounds Records and the stage is set for her to begin an awe inspiring Solo Career. Millions of fans are anxiously waiting for her solo album to debut in the summer of 2008.
