Necrophorus is an ambient project from Sweden, formed by Peter Andersson (also known for raison d'être, Atomine Elektrine, Stratvm Terror, Svasti-ayanam, and more).

Debut album Underneath the Spirit of Tranquility was released in 1996. Adorned with esoteric ambiences, one feels as though embarking on a path of inner ascension while breathing the immaterial tranquilities.

Second album Drifting In Motion was released in 2000. Arctic ambience, melting with imagination, leads the listener to the frozen tundra at the top of the world. This rarely explored land, resonant with a shimmering radiance that is bleak, barren and mysterious, is distinguished by slivers of fantastical nuances that twinkle like crystals under the midnight sun.

Third album Elinrós was released in 2005. Four beautiful compositions that blends and evolves into eternal tranquility. Included on the album is also a remix of "The Source of Underwater Bleakness" (originally released on the "Last Bleak Days" compilation).

Fourth album Imprints was released in 2007. It goes beyond the previous album and further investigates the aural landscape of imagination and mysticism. "Imprints" vibrates a fresh air mixed of three dimensional electrified organic field recordings and minimal immersive sequenced organ sounds thus creating the psychedelic atmosphere of virtually being inside the music, inside the magic circle of the aural landscape.

Moments of Sleeping Sadness from 2008 is a collection of early material (from 1991-92).

2013's Samadhi album is in one sense very animalistic, but in another sense highly spiritual. The sound sources are mainly based on animals (dog/cat) with additional acoustic and synthetic elements. Those animal sounds may at a first glance feel raw and untamed but the layers and structures in the compositions put it rather into an opposite direction of serenity and sublimity, all embraced by an aura of ritual touch.
