“When the Day Met the Night” is the eighth track on Panic! at the Disco’s second studio album, Pretty. Odd..

The song narrates the story of two polar opposites falling in love. It’s an interesting take on a love song because the moon and sun were not given specific characteristics, allowing the listener to fill in the missing parts as they, please. It is thought to be about Ryan Ross' relationship with then-girlfriend Keltie Colleen. Others believe it to be a sort of love letter from Ross to lead vocalist Brendon Urie, about the first time they met.

This song demonstrates the influence of classic music, like that of The Beatles, on the album. Panic! have said that the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album was a big inspiration for this record.
