I can understand that. I was kind of the opposite, saw them live, thought they were great, then checked out the album and expected a few more louder and exciting songs.

@skeletonbone: maybe I was a little harsh, but when I saw them, they were way too loud and basically blew their gently crafted songs into smithereens. I didn't get what I had expected, so maybe this is my problem.

I first heard Pearly Gate Music on BBC 6 Music, a superb digital station which offers all kinds of interesting left music on a daily basis. http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/ Alas it's now under threat, even though no convincing reasons have been given by those who want to close it. If you like what you hear, you can get involved here - http://save6music.com/ You'll need to hurry though; the deadline for speaking up is 25th May!

Shame there's no tracks up here yet. This band is fronted by Zach Tillman, brother of the Fleet Foxes drummer J. Tillman. As you may know, J.Tillman has his own excellent solo career and you can hear his music on Last FM. Apparently, when Pearly Gate Music played with J.Tillman in the States, they provided the slide guitar and drums for his band, too. They're doing a few UK shows next week. Should be great.
