Biography
Sand Sheff has been a cowboy, firefighter, minister, author, wilderness vagabond and recording artist. During a 5-year sojourn in Nashville, Music Row magazine called his music "the very definition of Americana".
These days Sand has come down off the mountain, calling the deserts of Moab, Utah, home. Sheff has 14 albums under his belt–his latest album, Dolly Too, came out in 2012, with new music due in 2019 with his new alt.bluegrass band, Quicksand Soup. In the spring of 2007, Sheff released a 3-CD effort (Dust, Cowboyin', and Lion on a White Horse). The set features Reeltime Travelers' Thomas Sneed and founding member of Leftover Salmon Glenn Keefe. In 2004, he released Free On This Mountain (Upheaval Dome), which spent 20 weeks on the Roots Music Report radio charts.
