The song is a noisy yet hypnotic piece with an ultra-fast driving riff along with afrobeat-inspired bongos and harmonizing horns, the chorus has multiple singers creating a complex rhythm.

"This is probably the most cryptic song on Remain in Light. It seems to speak about how the confusing and curious world is “defined” by a woman or a goddess figure and we shall realize this with her light, this is probably a metaphor with multiple interpretations as said by David Bryne in a Rolling Stone Interview.

“The Great Curve“ might define the hips of this goddess, the hook saying that night must fall now might be saying that the earth has to rotate and revolve around the sun by the goddess moving her hips so that people on the other side might see this light, the lines about moving remote control might also be a euphemism for the corrupt government spoken about in the intro track.
