In Memory of Dickey Betts. This was one of the first songs he wrote for the band. Rest in Peace.

Love the Jazz sensibilities of the Allmans, particularity in their early years. The live versions of this track are just a treasury of tasty jazzy improvisations. If I had to guess, I'd say that Dickey was probably the one bringing most of the Jazz aesthetic to the band considering he composed this and "Les Brers in A Minor." Great work from all of the boys all around,

Best years from 1967 to 1979 until the LP named Brothers and Sisters. A big lost to the music world when Duane Allman passed away in a motorcycle accident with a fruit truck & that's how they got the name of the double LP Eat A Peach & then a few months later the bass player also dies in a motorcycle accident with a truck. TRAGGIC : ( May they both RIP.

Am hearing "Fillmore" version...I've seen The Allman Bros at least 50 times in concert starting way back in 1971 when they were on a bill with Taj Mahal (anybody remember them?) A young lad, I got to see Duane play!
