always is Houston native keshi’s sixth EP following the release of his March 2020 EP, bandaids. The EP is the longest project he has released so far, with six songs in total, three already released as singles. The EP was announced in a May 2020 interview, when asked about his next project, keshi stated: I think I really wanna make sure that I’ve kinda tested all the waters of what I’m capable of doing, and then the album really flesh out exactly what I’m the best at doing. In June 2020, he gave insight on the process of its completion on an interview with Radio Heatwave. When asked about how he spent his time during the COVID-19 pandemic, he said: So I am currently writing my next record and it is slowly and surely wrapping up, like finishing up, and I’m really excited about it. On June 30, 2020, the first pre-single titled “more” was released, followed by the title track “always” being released on July 28, 2020, and finally, the third pre-single “drunk,” which released on September 18, 2020. Three weeks after the release of “drunk,” the release date was announced via a trailer. The EP actually shares the same release date as his first EP under the ‘keshi’ alias, if you’re not the one for me who is.
