So.... Can we PLEASE talk about "Margaret" and what the hell is going on? Probably their best song ever, I was instantly falling in love.

I'd have to listen to their discog more, but i still think Adoratio and Immortalis are the best. This one's certainly really good too, however.

Hmm? It came out on the 28th, and none of the last few singles failed to release.

Wouldn't say better than dir en grey but this is definitely kyo's better project. Petit brabancon is boring imo

Love Petit Brabancon too, but i agree this is the better one of his side projects. Still neither is better than Diru IMO.

Based on the latest song they released Infinitum is going to continue the electronic sound. I found the guitars and the originality seriously lacking in Adoratio. It contained too many generic songs with standard song structures. Hopefully we are getting a more artsy album this time around.

Just because you don't like the album, and it has a different sound than you expected, doesn't make it "lacking", "generic", or less "artsy" (whatever the hell that means).

I'm also wondering why you expect a huge guitar sound, most of IMMORTALIS isn't even focused on guitars.

Also, didn't like that ガーベラ cover at all, original song is waaay better. I mean, really. Sukekiyo just created an entirely new song, and it's disgusting in some ways. Original song is beautiful, almost perfect (music, vocals). This cover is something I personally wouldn't listen ever again. I like sukekiyo, I like Kyo himself, but this song... I can never come to liking it.

Yea, same. It's too far from the original and barely recognizable. But to be fair the song choice was off and I can't think of any MUCC song which sukekiyo could cover.

You're a huge drama queen. Just because you don't like a cover, doesn't make it "disgusting". Grow up.

Everything in ガーベラ is unexpected imo. Very interesting song. Much more interesting than any song within Adoratio. I thought Sukekiyo followed the classic song structure too much with their songs in Adoratio. This song however is different from start till end :)

I enjoy ADORATIO, but I will say it's not my favorite thing to come from them. The songs are unique, interesting, a good few pretty brilliant in the aspect of its composition, but overall while I appreciate them striving to make unique music and setups for said music, their organized albums like IMMORTALIS or the ep of VITIUM hold some of their most great songs - songs that kept me coming back to sukekiyo anyways. I like unique approaches to music, but if we could have more things fall inline with songs like elisabeth addict or celeste, they'd define theirselves and their sound and be a complete masterpiece of a group.

I agree. Adoratio had some fine songs, but nothing compared to Immortalis or Vitium. I have to be honest, Immortalis took me a year to grow on me. Now, I consider it as one of the best albums I have ever listened to in my life. Boy, was I wrong. Many songs have a song structure without any repeating elements whatsoever and a level of diversity that is not frequently found in this genre of music. Vitium was a step back since they generally moved to simpler song structures, but it still has a lot of awesome moments (Celeste is still one of my favourite songs of Sukekiyo). Adoratio however has a lot of pop songs or songs with generic song structures, filled with repeating choruses. Furthermore, I feel the voice of Kyo took a hit and can be weak in some area's. The lead guitars during vocals are toned down and also the solo's quite weak compared to earlier albums. The album is also lacking a bit of atmosphere here and there.

Exactly! It's weird because I'm used to seeing people say something along the lines of "immortalis is trash, adoratio is the best" etc. But Adoratio, when I sat and listened to the album on its release, I felt mostly intrigue but not anything much else. I guess I was expecting more songs along the likes of anima and mimi zozo, but it didn't end up that way. But I guess they want to be more than just musicians in sukekiyo. Who knows for sure?

I don't really see in what way Adoratio is really better than Immortalis, except for maybe the use of elektronics. There are melodies in Immortalis that are hauntingly mesmerizing (Nine melted fiction, Scars like velvet, Elisabeth addict, In all weather). The guitar work in Immortalis is pretty solid too (quite some solo's). And its filled with instrumental breakdowns with lead instruments that brings a lot of atmosphere. I guess Immortalis has this kind of subtlety that is lacking in Adoratio. The only reason why Adoratio could be more popular is because of its electronics (which is a good fit with the current demand for EDM music in the world), and the song structures that are easier on the ears and generally more recognisable. Many songs on Adoratio have a archaic song structure (opening - verse - pre-chorus - chorus - verse - pre chorus - chorus) or a mild variation on that. Compare that to many songs on Immortalis that did not repeated once from beginning till end...

Exactly, I also dont see the difference. Most of the songs share the same album concept, have a similar electronic sound, and the runtime of the ''music collection'' matches that of an album. Plus in the interview they mentioned that they actually put thought in the overal flow of the music collection etc.

Listened to ADORATIO for the first time. Not sure what to make of it just yet. It's all over the place. Need more listens. I do like the closing track, though!

I finally listened to a full album (ADORATIO), and I'm pretty impressed. I liked the 2 or 3 songs i heard randomly a couple years ago but didn't look into them further. Some of it is like if Dir en grey would have stuck with the MACABRE sound, some of it is like Kyo singing with nowadays Buck Tick but most of it I can't compare to anything.

Hm Adoratio. The opening song is quite weak in my opinion. Also a lot of elektronic elements, sometimes almost industrial. Which is okay, but it does not work with the light instrumentation of the band members, there is no synergy, it just collides in most cases, maybe because it does not sound mature. I love voice filters if done correctly, but the voice filters on track 7 are just overdone and plain terrible due to the bad mixing all together. What is up with the mixing anyways (flat drums!). Mixing of the first song also feels off. Its feels totally different from the first two albums, which is a breath of fresh air, but to me its a rather unpleasant change. Song 2,3,4,9 are decent. Although its heavy on the assymetric vocal lines. The songs are suprising though. You cannot guess what is going to happen next, which is something they do rather well. Vocals are also less divers, where is low and high pitched screaming, where are the maddening voices? These sections are quite limited.

And one final thing: what is the point of CD 2? What do we get? The exact same songs with just an additional layer of vocals. Kyo's vocals are fine already, in fact, its the core reason I listen to Sukekiyo. Why another layer ON TOP of it? Just remake the songs, vary their instrumentation, add new elements and its fine already. Like how they remade Elisabeth Edict on Anima. That was just perfect! All in all I still love Sukekiyo, but Adoratio is not my thing.

Yes it is. But the collaborations lead to nowhere. They are so plain and generic. They just add a vocal line (sometimes even on top of the existing one). Why not work with different artists from different genre's? Why not a different drummer or how about a jazz pianist that has its own jazzy piano solo in Mimi Zozo, or an industrial artist that collaborates on one electronic song within Adoratio? Or what about a collaboration artist that brings something totally fresh, a violist? Mix up the songs more, add something, leave something out. There is literally no reason to listen it right now.
