I'm checking to see if last.fm is scrobbling from the Swinsian digital media player, which is a possible replacement for iTunes. To misquote Sgt. Schultz: "I see no evidence of Scobbling." Oh well, it is a trial/unregistered version good for 30 day trial, which looks and sounds better than Apple's iTunes. The bad news is: Mac OSX 10.7 or better only, which isn't good news for this dual system user.

I've been listening to FM radio since 8/25 as a Nielsen radio diarist. I've been surfing the limited genre pool and find Alternative is OK, Hip Hop is so-so, Country is meh, and Christian Rock is an invention of the Devil.;) Since Ye Olde iPod Touch "can't do radio," I've been using my non-Apple digital music players that have FM radio tuners to jump from Classic Rock to Alternative to Adult Contemporary to Island Music. The radio surfing ends with August 2016, though I'll be scrobbloing from time to time, as boredom sets in.;)

I got tired of 2.1.37 not working with OSX 10.8/Snow Leopard, so I tossed it into the Trash. Then I reinstalled 2.1.36 and IGNORED the 2.1.37 update. So Last.fm is registering plays from Ye Olde Core 2 Duo Macbook once again. Will this "fix" only work while I'm online, then not work after I restart? (Is Bill Gates rich?:(

Last.fm Scrobber 2.1.36 works, but Last.fm keeps trying to sell 2.1.37, which won't work with OSX 10.8/"Snow Leopard." 2.1.37 is a security upgrade for OSX El Capitan or later, which is as stable as Windows 3.x. The last time I tried it, the upgrade worked as long as I was online. I signed on today and guess what? NO Last.fm Scrobbler at all. Attempts to upgrade keep pointing back to version 2.1.36, which triggers an "upgrade to 2.1.37" when I start up iTunes. The "install 2.1.37"-which-doesn't-work merry-go-round continues.;(

I got them "Update or else" Blues, again.:( I'm running Mac OSX 10.8 on Ye Olde Core2 duo Macbook because it works best for this "Low End Mac." If I update to the "primarily for El Capitan" version, the Scrobbler won't work. (So, along with Ye Olde G4 PowerBook, this "Snow Leopard" PowerBook is invisible to Last.fm.:(

I started up iTunes Mac, then I noticed that the Last.fm scrobbler wasn't on. I found Last.fm in the Applications folder, clicked on it, and found myself required to set it up...again? I did so, only to be told that the scrobbler couldn't connect to the Internet to confirm my identity/User name & password. This loop program went on for three rounds, with iTunes playing and NOT being seen. Finally, I opted for "the nuclear option," tossing the scrobbler into the trash, then reinstalling the software from the .zip file. This ring-around-the-rosie nonsense followed Last.fm demanding I sign in via the beta version. Hey CBS, if you're tired of scrobbling my music library, spell it out instead of using that beta program to prolong what has become a less-than-satisfying experience.:(

Hi! I just randomly dropped in to see how things were here at Last.fm..... unfortunately, it looks like things are still a mess. Bleh. I miss the forums terribly, but the staff seem to be busy trying to make the wheel square; only because it would be more aesthetically pleasing. To hell with function or the fact that the round wheel was functioning just fine. Anywho, I just wanted to drop by and say hello. :)

Hey Otokichi, knock knock.... thought I'd do my Christmas caroling early. Noticing a little movement here at the site, hopefully indicative of 'progress' on part of Last.fm: Shoutboxes have restored beyond the face page. Also, at log in today I received a pop-up window/CBS hosted survey; it was presented as a Last.fm survey, however it was more a socio-economic survey... inquiring age, ethnicity, socio status, education, employment... focused much on the purchase of a vehicle.... (catching a hint that CBS is deciding whether website users are economically worthy of keeping around = I fabricated my answers and fibbed about buying a new car!) Don't know if Josh Grobin is your style, if so find here 2 Free Album downloads: Noel, and Stages. https://play.google.com/store/music/collection/promotion_albums_2000c29_dis_aotw_josh_groban Hope all is well for you, and wishing us all a happy return (sooner the better, missing the members of our Classic Rock clan!) Take Care. Lissa

*waves* Hi! I live! I hate the new version of this site with the heat of a thousand suns, but I live! :P Sorry, I didn't reply to your post, but I promised myself to stay away for awhile in protest. Not that the powers that be cared, but I did, so whatever. lol I hope you are well. Has the site dwindled since I've been away? It doesn't seem like as many people are on anymore. I miss the groups....

Hello there! hahaha I get what you mean...will try to find it, obviously the first few composers you mentioned I know but the last 3 I don't plus duets are always interesting. Obvious one maybe but you know John Williams (the guitarist) & Itzhak Perlman's (violin) DUO album? Worth checking out, same goes for also incredibly famous Julian Bream & John Williams 'Together' and 'Together Again' albums :)

The "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" has announced the 2016 nominees. War has been snubbed again (as usual), and numerous bands share this fate. I expect that N.W.A. will get in because of the "Straight Out of Compton" movie makes them chic again. ("Chaka Khan"? That Muslim chick? Laters, Dude.) Oh well, the "rock and roll hall of fame" isn't much of either.

Since access to Groups and Threads are "somewhere in the future," I went back to Songfacts Forum. Yes, you too can play music/movies/TV/trivia games while Last.fm gets redone. I still have an "Otokichi" presence, and toured Fun and Games, then plumbed the depths of Movies and TV. Some threads have been inactive since 2012 or earlier, but it's better than The Silence here.;)

Thank you Otokichi; actually the link I gave you is valid... though I'm working from a tablet, and it seems all things tablet have their own web link "mobile" addresses. Pain in the android if you know what I mean. At the moment I'm unable to do much with my account at OurStage via tablet.... currently working at setting my my 'repaired' PC/Dell. (fingers crossed). What are your thoughts on that site... Did you create an account at OurStage?

*wave hello* Remembered at site I used to be active at before I found Last.fm. It's a music site for indie musicians. Discover new and in competitions as a listener/supporter you can even have a part in voting the winning music into the lime light. I was there to support an friend/indie musician "Mute Albino"/Stef Vanstiphout. He won $100 for his song Flies On Oranges back in 2008 :). Here's the link: http://ourstage.com/about/faqs. I still have a profile there, thinking I might reactivate it: LeRiverhawk https://ourstage.com/profile/bxrociytgpvp

"jcjohnson63," before he left for places unknown, complained that that his Spotify scrobbles didn't show up. Mine do, since I connected my Spotify activity to last.fm. For those artists with multiple CD releases, it's interesting to listen to more than their greatest hits. (For instance, The Hooters' version of "One of Us" is more tentative than Joan Osborne's "Pop fly" version.;)

So, the boffins at last.fm got tired of all the detailed criticism current/soon-to-be-former users heaped on them and pulled the "progress" thread? It was an interesting lightning rod, allowing the miffed/angry/outraged to vent while things proceeded...to what? With more twists and turns than most TV dramas, the bitch box pages would be far more interesting than USA's "Mr. Robot." So,shall I cruise over to "I talk to the trees" Pandora or "where is everybody?" Spotify? So many choices...:(

ah, Spotify and Pandora seem to be 'the spot' at the moment. I will keep my profile here at Last.fm as it's at least a library of favorite songs. At the moment Dirk, as well I are having computer issues/PCs are out for repair. My search to find a possible interest online for something similar to what we've known 'here' continues. At the moment nothing music related, however Quora is interesting and came up in a search for "music sharing social network". Take Care Otokichi. Will come by to say hi from time to time and hope to see you 'pray' last.fm lets us back to all familiar places. . .

The user known as "jcjohnson63" might be at Spotify, since he was grousing about last.fm not recording his activity there. I haven't been there long enough to figure out how to search for musical friends, and my Facebook page isn't exactly friend-friendly. Still, it's nice to see that some folk are still here, curious to see when/if functionality returns to last.fm.;)

Oops! It's Facebook, not Myspace. Hmm, should I go back to Pandora, where interaction is limited to posts about music and artists, or peruse the occasionally-extensive artist discographies and nothing else on Spotify? I'd post something here, but without Groups and associated threads, it's not the same. So, when do we hold a musical wake for the last.fm carcass?

Ads and Spam sites take up quite a bit of display space on The New Last.Fm. I notice how pretty they look...then remember not to have anything to do with them. (After all, if I have to see something I don't believe/support/need, it's only natural.;) I notice that Spotify's been running slow tonight, which may be the fault of the Firefox updater, instead of the graphics and ad-heavy website. (Hmm, should I let Myspace folks know what kind of music and artists I like? Spotify's been trying to get me hooked up, but I prefer Myspace to be a "what's going on around the web" thing.;)

Haahaa... first time since I left the Air Force that I've known of someone usig "FUBAR" accurately. Sorry for the delay in my reply. Still thumbing away via my little tablet, desktop is in a coma. Twice IT has come to my place to replace parts and now it's being sent to the depot for Dell to repair or replace. Dell covers ALL expenses involved. Fortunately I contacted their IT directly and not Best Buy/Geek Squad. Dell recommends 'never do that'. . . you'll be charged by them. I've searched in hope to find other sites similar to Last.fm though nothing that has what we've grown accustom to. For a moment I thought I'd rediscovered a site that I found also while Last.fm was FUBAR a while back... "Tastebuds.fm". Logged in to my profile and quickly remembered why I didn't stay around. All icons are personal photos of the users, I get the impression it's less music socializing and more the 'meet someone', dating vibe.

I've been navigating Spotify, which looks interesting though a bit busy. It seems that I set up an account a while back when things were FUBAR on last.fm. (But not as much as now.) I'm not too sure which site is better, though I can find others on Pandora by looking for comments on the artist's page. For some artists, there's a pretty extensive discography ready to play, while others have zip. (For example, if I didn't have Dan Tyminsky's "Wheels" CD, I would wonder what he's been doing since "The Soggy Bottom Boys" movie.) Ads at Spotify are a lot more intrusive than the "sorry about this interruption" ads at Pandora.

Aloha! Otokichi, yes I've been missing our exchange in the Discussions at the Classic Rock group... weeks of computer and modem connect issues, now 'this'... looks for the time being there is no life support 'here'; Pandora eh? I've searched "websites like Last.fm", haven't found anything interesting as Last.fm USED to be when we could create our own playlists... I even subscribed for that. Now, well it's a peculiar backward progression. If you find a new world to populate, come back for me! For now I don't entrust my precious computer BETA subjects :( so I won't be around until it's all resolved to an official functioning website. Currently it appears that our profiles are merely places holders for those #^@* advertisements.... see you from time to time to touch base and enjoy the good ole times. Thank you for reaching out to me and showing some care.... back at ya!

Hello, everybody. It's nice to have the Shoutbox back to make contact. The past couple of days I've been at Pandora, making all sorts of artist radio collections, and using "Shuffle" to play as much variety as possible. Also, I've been engaged in marathon "like this track/artist/composer" sessions and making casual connections with other radio folk. I miss the Groups and Threads, but it will take time for the whiz kids to untangle that cross-linked mess.;) Time to play the iTunes library for a while before heading to the land of nod.
