Yeah, I've heard lots of awesome things about Edward Sharpe's Bonnaroo set last year from all my friends that got to go. This show is going to be a wonderful experience. Wish I could just ride on the train with them... haha.

Re: Railroad Revival, omg. I haven't seen Mumford or Old Crow but I can definitely attest to Edward Sharpe being amazing live. I've seen them twice and the good atmosphere their shows have is incredible. And fun, too, not to mention the music. I'm super excited to see the other two as well though. Three awesome bands... I've decided I'm hitting Chandler the day after, too.

I'm insanely excited for that. I love all three bands to death. I'm even considering picking up a ticket to the Phoenix(ish) show too, since it's on a weekend. But that is $55, so I'm still thinking about it. (Also, I'm kind of considering heading up to Columbus, Ohio for an Avett show in late May, since I'll be back in TN by then... hmm...)

I'd never seen him before, regrettably. I wish I could've seen him when he was just doing quiet, tiny little acoustic shows or something. Maybe he'll do that again in the future. But the reworked old songs were so neat. I think you're right about the Low Anthem's mix being a little off, but it wasn't overpowering to me.

Soooo, Iron & Wine. That was pretty damn cool. I didn't expect such a huge backing band. And I've never felt such profound silence from 2,000 people during the encore. It was amazing. ... oh, and the Low Anthem were much more enjoyable, I think, in a smaller venue. They'd be even better in someplace really tiny and intimate...

Checked the videos out. That's pretty awesome (for lack of a better word that I've used in all of my messages). The balloons look like they would've been SO fun. And it would've been a really great way to bring in the new year. I had a good New Years Eve anyway, but man that would've been cool. Haha, when I saw of Montreal once, someone brought balloons and during the downtime between them and the opener, we all just played with them. Was a lot of fun. What different stuff did they play on NYE? People seem to have only submitted a setlist on setlist.fm for the 30th.

Awesome, I'm excited to see some footage. Any particular reason the NYE show was even better? Just the fact that it was on New Year's Eve? How did they break in the new year, did they do something exactly at midnight? Also, dude, there were sooo many people. I was amazed. We got there about 8:15 and there were already hundreds upon hundreds there. Figuring it wasn't even worth standing so far back, we sat up to the right in the stands.. also, I was in Asheville again the next day (the 31st) and I saw a bunch of people already there and waiting at, like, 5ish. Talk about devoted fans. Also, I hope you got to enjoy Asheville / love it as much as I do. :D

(But that's not to say that some people weren't seriously there to see Horse Feathers. There were some very devoted fans there, just also an equal amount of people just having fun and going to the venue for the hell of it.)

Yeah, be sure to let me know how that Andrew Bird show turns out. I'm less and less hopeful about getting a ticket. Also, five days to Avett Brothers! Really stoked for that. Horse Feathers were really good, and honestly Y La Bamba blew me away, having never heard them before. The venue was a tiny place that was a combo venue+restaurant that served unique stuffed crepes... food was good, but sadly with the place being super tiny (standing room of 50 or less?) and the bar being on the other side of the room, the people at the bar fought with the sound of the music. And I hate hearing groups of people talking loudly/drunkenly at shows, it really detracts from the experience and sometimes can really offend the performers. Also, the sound wasn't too exceptional, but that's just me being picky for such a small place. The venue would be incredibly cool if no one was there to drink.. super tiny/intimate. And sorry this post is so long. Whoops.

Will do! Also, I unfortunately didn't get tickets to the Andrew Bird show. I'm really, really sad about that--the theater looked like a wonderful place to see him. I saw him last year.. he played at USC, actually, in our auditorium, but because it was so huge, it wasn't really an intimate sort of show like this one would be. Hoping someone sells their ticket, but I'm not hopeful. :( He's such an awesome performer.

A friend and I got tickets to the 30th a couple weeks ago! :D So I'm definitely going. Also, that's craaazy. I guess I'll understand after I see them how you could go to so many shows! You've got me really excited now.

Ahh, nice. That is a pretty long road trip, then. Eight or nine hours. I'm probably going to go to that show, I've asked a friend if she wants to go. Probably the Dec 30 one. How are they live?

Oh, that's awesome. :) It's kind of cool to me that I'm not the only person who transitioned from Tennessee to Los Angeles. Where are you from? Gotta be somewhere further west, 'cause to me Asheville isn't a road trip, just about an hour drive. It is a great area, I really miss the Appalachians... and having actual seasons. Asheville's beautiful too. (On a related note, I might go to that Avett Brothers show if it's not already sold out...)

Hi! Can't help but notice that you're going to shows in both LA and Asheville NC in the future. Are you from the Asheville area by any chance? :o
