FOREIGN – The symphony of the Wandering Jew is the work of singer/keyboard player Ivan Jacquin (Psychanoïa, Lifeseeker, Projekt One) ; the idea to create this master-piece appeared in his mind when he read in the past several books and chronicles about the myth of the Wandering Jew and inspired him three whole songs in a progressive and symphonic rock/metal mood. Foreign will be a trilogy...a real rock opera! https://foreignrockopera.bandcamp.com (btw, please vote for the correct band pictures)

Swappers Eleven is an international music collective who’s founding members met in 2011 as winners of Marillion’s SWAP THE BAND contest. Originally conceived as a “Band” project, the core trio of Luiz Alvim (Keyboards), Alessandro Carmassi (Vocals) and Gary Foalle (Bass) decided on a more exciting proposition: “let’s recruit Swap The Band winners from other Marillion Weekends” With promo copies of their track "The Collector" as their manifesto, the guys went to work spreading the word to fellow Swappers. Their mission complete … Swappers Eleven now boasts an impressive lineup of 15 musicians from 10 countries. Swappers Eleven have released their debut album "From A Distance" on July 27, 2020. https://swapperseleven.bandcamp.com

Hi Mohsen, hope all is well with you. I see it's been a while since I dropped by. At the moment I'm loving a release by Warmrain "Back Above The Clouds". I've seen reviews describe it as having bits of Floyd, Stephen Wilson, Riverside and Anathema. Well worth giving a listen to see if its too your liking. Other than that i'm pretty much listening to the same new releases that you already appear to have discovered. Best wishes, Nick

Hi Mohsen, are you having trouble with scrobbling? I either get lots of multiple scrobbles for the same track or tracks aren't scrobbled. The result is highly inaccurate scrobbling. I keep trying different Apps but they all do the same. If last.fm doesn't scrobble properly then why bother with it? I am seriously considering dumping my account and using my streaming site instead. So don't be surprised if my account disappears all of a sudden. It's been fun for the last 10 years but no more.

Hi Mohsen, haven't been in touch recently, but I don't think I've got any new gems to recommend that you won't already have heard about. The new Pineapple Thief is great and I'm currently listening to Phideaux, which Chris has raved about so a lot to live up too ... and so far I'm really impressed with it. One to look out for is the new release from Oak "False Memory Archive". It was yourself who recommended their first release to me and it still gets repeated plays so here's hoping the new one is as good, I'm not sure of its release date though. All the best Nick

Hope you don't mind me butting into you thread Nick. Phideaux's album is apparently the final part of a trilogy with a ten year gap since the second instalment. Phideaux Xavier uses themes from the first two albums throughout this epic but what I was impressed by was the way the tracks flow from one to the next without you realising it so that it seems almost like one continuous piece of music. For me it is by far the best album in what has been a pretty lean year so far. The Pineapple Thief's latest is a decent release but is so much like Bruce Soord's earlier albums and is not as strong as Your Wilderness. Looking forward to Riverside's Wasteland (28 September 2018), Damanek's In Flight (5 Ocrober 2018) and The Tangent's Proxy (18 November 2018).

Hi Mohsen, and how are you? I was wondering about your view of the best albums so far this year. Maybe I haven't found them yet but my list is not typical of earlier years. Here's my top 10: 1. A Veil Of Water - Late Night Loneliness 2. Lunatic Soul - Under The Fragmented Sky 3. Sisare - Leaving The Land 4. Seven Reizh - L'Albatros 5. Kalman Filter - Exo - Oceans 6. Tonochrome - A Map Of Fragments 7. Tony Banks - Five 8. DID - Dissociative Identity Disorder 9. Ashram - Human and Divine 10. Canturbe - Flotteur Non-prog albums don't generally make it into my top 10 but there are a couple here.

Hi Chris! Thanks for sharing your list with me. I haven't had the chance to make my list yet but there are definitely a lot in common with what you shared. I'd add A Perfect Circle - Eat the Elephant, Subsignal - La Muerta, The Sea Within's self titled album, Riversea - The Tide, Crystal Palace - Scattered Shards, ,,, and I haven't listened to a couple albums you mentioned, so it's really hard for me to pick top 10 really :))

I had A Perfect Circle, Subsignal and Riversea just outside my top 10 by plays. I shall give them another spin to see whether I stand by that initial view. Crystal Place didn't get a repeat listen when I tried it so must return to that. And I seem to be less enamoured with Gildenlow's and Stolt's contributions these days (love Reingold's though) which is why I only gave that one spin - again I need to return to it. BTW Project: Patchwork's latest is now in my top 10 (after I checked it out again) and the list I sent you includes some non-prog albums that may not be to your liking but I enjoyed them.

Hi! Thanks for your message. Unfortunately I haven’t listto the new Arena yet! But really enjoying Subsignal. The new Lunatic Soul is beautiful but won’t get a lot of spin here cause not much new tunes I’m hearing in it. Lots of beautiful releases recently though! Riversea and Crystal Palace are my picks. A perfect Circle, Hekz and ISProject were lively too. Time to start spinning some Arena. I also haven’t got my signed copy of new Anubis I’m waiting for impatiently.
