Ohh, fun! Ireland is #1 on my to-go list. Ancestry (plus I freaking love old cemeteries). Are there any places you're leaning towards?

...just read this! As a matter of fact, I'm going to England for 3 weeks. Ireland is amazing and there are a few great cemeteries there. There was one near my house in Sheffield too, I'll look for a few photos.

Nice writings about Spacesuit on your website. I'm an asbolute Allen Epley fanboy and soak up every tidbit of news or interviews or whatever about him and/or his bands.

Ha, thanks. I can't relate to morning people. Most mornings, I genuinely think "Nope. This isn't going to happen." I'm usually exhausted all day, then around 10 pm, finally wake up. Now that I think about it, I probably never reach a state of functioning properly. lol. And your Cheese Whiz story is awesome! Took that whole "behold the power of cheese" very seriously, huh? Haha.

The weirdest thing is, I got what you mean, yet I still responded with a totally different topic. No clue what happened there. I could blame it on attempting to write in the middle of the night, but that's my regular schedule, so... Let's just say I was hoping you'd have a follow-up involving Paul McCartney and frogs and teddy bears. :P When I was a kid, vinyl completely intimidated me. I didn't fear explosion (ha), just that I was going to ruin the record. That dang needle looked threatening, I guess. Considering I was afraid of how to place the CD in the player, apparently my fear of wrecking things survived.

Nice! I'm glad I can't remember the first one I bought. I'm sure it was something I'd rather pretend I never appreciated. (Although I do remember holding the Jurassic Park soundtrack and trying to figure out if I was supposed to put in in the player artwork face down or up. lol)

yep, quite possibly. Kozelek has so much talent and hardly gets any credit for it. people don't even mention them while talking about the 90s which is incredibly sad. what do you think?

Nice fall picks! God, that Sigur Rós song is so gorgeous. One of my favorite videos, too. I'm gonna be debating this for a while, because I just started doing seasonal playlists on Spotify. Only have summer so far, and hadn't even started preparing for my fall one. </slowpoke> The first thing that popped into my head when you asked was Vienna Teng's "Inland Territory," but I think that's just because she has a song there that opens with "In the fall, we circle through the leaves" and my brain was being extremely literal. The other thing I came up with Over the Rhine's "Ohio" album. Sorry I was no help with your story. :P

Good question! Man, I don't know. I've been on such synthpop kick lately that I haven't even anticipated the seasonal change yet. (Although this was the first morning where I was cold when I woke up, so maybe I'll be transitioning soon.) I'm gonna have to think about it, because off of the top of my head, I honestly have no idea. What defines fall for you? And I was my usual slowpoke self and never replied to your last message, but dang! Writing in between working on your PhD ... how do you do it? I gave up writing 'cause I was so freakin' slow in getting new reviews up, and I certainly wasn't PhD-in' it up.

How do you like not having a car? The ideal lifestyle in my head is living somewhere I can just walk everywhere, or that at least has a decent public transit system. And how'd you end up in the UK, if you don't mind me asking? :)

Roadtrip! Only time I've ever traveled without a plan or destination in mind. It was just totally aimless. Ended up going across Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee before ending up at the shore in Nags Head, North Carolina. Lucked into a hotel that was literally on the beach, stayed for 3 days, traveled through Virginia and West Virginia, and then found my way home. It was so much fun. Need to do it again, just in the opposite direction. Ha.

Awesome article on The Alchemy Index man. Really interesting to see such in-depth analysis from fans and I love how you reference the music to what you were doing in life at the time. I find it really interesting going back to old Thrice albums when a new one comes out, which is what I've been doing loads of lately (in particular The Alchemy Index). Take care!
