how does it feel to have been scrobbling for more than a decade, and does it ever occur to you that you might one day join the sea of old and dead accounts? not to be morbid or anything but those two accounts have got me thinking haha

It was not disappointing at all, quite the opposite. Sadness is good. Happiness is overrated. When I mean “saddest” radio I actually mean it’s bloody awesome.

Kettel’s Unreleased 2002-2012. The second part of that album is pure bliss, so uplifting. Check “Drowse” for example. If you want something uplifting and nostalgic at the same time, try Ous Mal’s Nuojuva Halava album. Possibly my favourite all time album - it takes some time to grow on you, but once you start finding all the melodies woven into the dusty ambiences, it melts your heart

Thanks, although it lacks a bit of Nicki Minaj and this sort of pussycore stuff :(

I'm a big fan of the 90s/early 00s trance, and also like some stuff up to 2010-ish. Andy was dropping some really melancholic and beautiful tunes with Reeves, on December each year, too bad we never had a follow up to Dreams :(

I am pretty much the same. Early trance era was the best up until 2012-13. From new amazing trance tracks I definitelly would recommend checking out Gouryella - Anahera (Ferry Corsten alter-ego). If you are into Andy Duguid he recently released a really beuatiful track too: Andy Duguid & Chelsea Holland - The Forest

I like Jon Hopkins, don't get me wrong, it's just that I like others more and really didn't know why he was so popular - thanks for giving me some good leads!

Hey spacecat, it's only been recently that I stumbled upon Grouper and I'm totally in love with the AIA: Alien Observer album. I'm yet to go through the rest of her discography... what's the other albums like compared to this? AIA: Dream Loss is not at the same level imo. Curious about the others.

If you enjoyed the wurlitzer key sound (alien observer, vapor trails intro/outro), try out the split album she has with Roy Montgomery (her part's titled Vessel). More AIA style ambient guitar would be the Hold/Sick double single and Rising Height I think. See if this helps also! https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/587330529439907890/587973899694768140/groupertypes.jpg

Because they're good, but not everything the critics and the public in general say they are. Their debut LP was decent, but nowhere near groundbreaking or creative - that style had been around for a while, some songs like "Thrown" were new in 2008 but not really in 2014. Think of it that way: if it wasn't for the popularity of Ólafur Arnalds, this release would have probably gone unnoticed. All in all, they're not bad, but just not as good - hence overrated.

Hey, how is it going? You don't know me (I know), but I released my first EP this month along with a video. As I compose, record, produce and mix all by myself, I end up being limited in ways to share around my project, so I'm sharing around here, also I apologize for flooding your chat with this type of info. But if you're interested and want to hear, the songs flirt with elements of dream pop, lo-fi and shoegaze: https://youtu.be/YLwXzEJpRM4
