the comedy WAS that bad, at least, the diarrhea song was. i'm more of an of Montreal fan than a Ra Ra Riot fan, so I'm not entirely sure if I'll be allowed to go see Ra Ra Riot because my parents won't drive me to two concerts in one month, but I have friends I can try and coerce into driving me haha. They were so much fun at APW that I don't want to pass up another opportunity to see them... and I'm going to be pleased when TPC goes on tour again with a new album :D Mr.Monks is very cute, I agree. &American Apparel has awesome sales every once in a while, where they sell stuff for less than 10 dollars, and their stuff does last (my Ok Go shirt is still the most obnoxious neon red possible almost a year later) so it's all good.

i really don't 'love' very many bands, the postelles and gaslight were the only bands at apw that i loved enough to sacrifice anything for (we suffered through comedy and the diarrhea song for the postelles. eeek.) you're so lucky if you can go into nyc to see things, i can only see weekend shows so i'm really limited in my choice, and it took foreverr to convince my mum that nyc gigs are just as safe as philly ones (of montreal, here i come!). i'm pretty ocd about what i buy, i have so so many tshirts already so i only buy band shirts i know i'll wear half to death these days :) american apparel shirts are so softtt i adore them so the price seems reasonable. TPC's singer, come to think of it, you're rightt. that must explain everything ;]

i have trouble finding even normal shirts for under 25 dollars, perhaps that makes me an inefficient shopper, but the brand of shirts they used are 16-18 dollars on their own and i have no problem paying a bit to support something i lovelove that much. My franz shirt at the gig was 30 :| I agree about most of the merch not being appealing though, the vampire weekend and mgmt shirts were so underwhelming, and the tpc shirts were powder blue (i wouldnt have thought tpc would make shirts i found too girly. that's just bizarre.)

(i couldve sworn i'd written you back, sorry! D:) the friend who i went with & i decided that we probably wouldnt be able to get good places because we lack dedication/patience and just ran around all over the place to listen to stuff we liked (we did suffer through comedy for the postelles, though.) and it turned out that the two non-main stages were easy to get about 5 rows from even if you walked there half-way through the gig. i would never spend money on coldplay tickets so while i thought about the ticket value argument, there's a point where you'd rather just listen to something not-as-good but your taste than the group that turned out to play better. i thought mgmt were pretty decent, and i can't really make many concerts even if they are just in nyc, so i'm glad we saw them. i admire you for putting up with the people at the front of the mainstage crowd. i didnt actually end up liking most main stage acts, we got to the front of SP and hated them and left :|

franz are def worth seeing one day. well, i listened to the bands before going too (it's hard to choose between bands when you have no idea what they sound like!) but there's an appeal to seeing a band you've heard of out of the context of having first heard of them because they were playing APW for me. So Gaslight and Coldplay and MGMT were really the highlights for Sunday (I didnt see much of Coldplay in the end). My problem with the overlapping was that the bands I really wanted to see (my priorities) were the ones playing at the same time ^^; (coldplay mgmt; postelles and arctics and honey brothers; trail of dead and cage the elephant; mogwai and echo, it was simply annoying but not unbearable). Ha we had really bad burritos but otherwise, the food was good. I didn't buy any APW merchandise, just band shirts (Arctics and Postelles, would have bought WAS or VW if they were prettier and Gaslight and Shearwater if they had any :|)

I saw Franz back when they were in tour a couple of months ago, if you can make it it'd be worth it, they're better live than they are on record. But yes, if you're going from Jersey that's a pretty hefty distance. Gaslight were one of the few artists I'd actually heard of on the sunday :| Oh well, it was definitely fun overall, if muddy. A lot of the bands I wanted to see overlapped and then there were times when there was nobody interesting playing, so I burnt time buying much too much merchandise. (i have a new favourite shirt at least. ahaha.)
