Carlos Toshiki and Omega Tribe were a Japanese pop band during the 80s and early 90s. The lead singer, Carlos Toshiki, was a replacement for Kiyotaka Sugiyama, who led the Omega Tribe in the late 70s and early 80s. The Omega Tribe members, Toshitsugu Nishihara, Akira Kurokawa, and Shinji Takashima remained throughout the life of the band, except Kurokawa, who left in 1988. In 1988, Joey McCoy, an African-American, joined the band and performed lead vocals for a few songs. The band's influence includes rock and roll, jazz, and American culture. Many of their songs are titled in English, sung in Japanese, and sprinkled with English phrases. Their songs often have summer themes.
