Always fascinates me how your music taste varies from classical composers (not actual performers) and rappers with some rock bands in there. Pretty cool!

Yeah man, I listened through one of his tapes a couple times on Soundcloud too after somebody recommended him to me, it could well have been you actually.

Hey man! I've seen you around the subreddit, posted some nice 5x5's. One thing i really liked was the fact that you took the time to answer every single response on there. That's exactly what I'm looking for in the subreddit, not "smart-alecky" answers but true, friendly music discussion. Your tastes are about as eclectic as mine, so it's nice to find someone who I can talk to regarding different music genres! You get the ball rolling dude! Let's talk some music.

Hey bro, yeah I frequently see you about on the sub too, you are one of a handful of people I notice always trying to open up interesting discussions, but most people seem to never bother responding sadly. I’m honestly surprised by how dead the sub is, I only just discovered Last FM and Reddit relatively recently and the subreddit just seems to be used for complaints about the site not working 🤷🏽♂️ Yeah I try to reply to every 5x5, it’s hard to keep up sometimes when a post takes off! I don’t understand these people who make a post asking what people have been listening to, but then show no interest in anybody’s replies 🤔 I’ve actually been meaning to respond to you about the DJ Mitsu track you told me to check out. I really enjoyed it, can never find enough instrumental hip hop! It sounded like some chilled jazz-hop (like early Flying Lotus), but with some subtle Daft Punk styled synths snuck in - really nice combo. Where would you recommend starting with more of his stuff?

I've just recently started geting into DJ Mitsu, so I couldn't really recommend a starting point, yet. However, I have been listening today to "The Excellence: Selected Works", and his "Re-New Awakening" series, I think there are 4 volumes. I've pretty much put all his music on shuffle, and enjoyed all of it. I'm a huge Jazz-Hop fan, (Nujabes, Kenmochi Hidefumi, Cradle Orchestra, etc), especially the Japanese kind, so DJ Mitsu was a sure thing for me, right up my alley.. Anyway, how you doing man? The subreddit is definitely dead. It's not like they're elitist about their music taste or anything, then again open minded discussion is not really pumping over there.. I guess that's what I miss most about the forums, even if it was just in the form of games, etc., it was active. Anywho, been checking out your recent lists.. Hendrix has been my #1 for the longest time, I don't think he'll ever be dethroned. And as for Shabazz Palaces, I'll try giving it a second try to see if I connect!

Ah okay cool, we’ll both be working through Mitsu’s stuff together then! It seems like a good chunk of his stuff isn’t on streaming services so a bit of digging might be required. Yeah I used to listen to loads of instrumental jazz-hop mixes before I was using Last FM, but recently I’ve just been listening to jazz in place of the jazz-hop I used to listen to. Ah yeah I’ve listened to some Nujabes and loved it, but haven’t gotten around to properly exploring their stuff. I sadly missed the whole forums stage of Last FM, I would’ve loved some of the discussions. Yeah Hendrix certainly looks pretty comfortable atop your charts, you definitely seem to have a soft spot for guitar aficionados! Have you listened to Buckethead before? Came across him recently and he can fairly ping the strings. I couldn’t tell you where to start with his stuff though as he has - literally - hundreds of albums. Yeah I just discovered Shabazz Palaces recently and I’m quite enjoying their stuff, pretty unique.
